COASTAL JEWEL
Station Marina di Cerveteri
The slats that function as sunscreens narrate the passing of time through the natural passage of light and shadow.
The project focused on giving a new definition on the existing building function with the use of a second facelifting design in combination with the new building system. The slats that function as sunscreens narrate the passing of time through the natural passage of light and shadow. The concept of space is one of absolute lightness but also of an open container. Open towards the urban area and towards the track side. This is represented by the precise warping and composition of the slats. Slats that work as sunscreens.
Impact on the community
The jewel of the roman coastal. Marina di Cerveteri railway station restyling is a unique project because of the landscape position, near the seaside and the old Cerveteri town (Etruscan site area). A project studied in every detail and a work of great quality said Mayor of Cerveteri. It gives us a station that will assign prestige to our seaside fraction and the entire coast. The design of the info point and the redevelopment of the spaces serving the bar have contributed to making the station a place for social interaction. A project that transforms a functional urban area into a place of interconnections between people.

Awards
The restyling project of the Marina di Cerveteri station in Rome is the winner of prestigious prizes and awards for design excellence. Among which it won the GFD Awards – The Architecture Press Release APR (First Award) and ACDA Runner-Up 2020 – rtf Rethinking The Future Award.
Lightness
The project of the Marina di Cerveteri station aims at the redevelopment of the public space of the architectural image. The aluminum material chosen is intended to contribute to the sense of lightness. The use of industrial material which is normally considered “poor” in the project is dignified so as to represent the new facade systems. The project aims to build a constant dialogue with the urban context, the user and create a unique integrity: From the shape to the space, to the material to use.
Sustainability
The design activity is focused on the goal of creating the conditions for a sustainable project, due to the aspect of the choice of material (aluminum recycled surface product). Not only is the aluminum surface easy to maintain over a lifetime; but the low-cost second-skin design naturally filters (protects) the existing fabric from sun exposure. In this project, the aluminum surfaces are designed on a 3d model and evoke the waves of a stream of water, in contrast with the rhythmic aluminum tone system.
